Our laboratory focuses on the development of efficient crop production systems under controlled environment agriculture (CEA) and the establishment of high-efficiency production systems applicable to greenhouse and vertical farming (space agriculture).
We also work on enhancing both yield and metabolite content by analyzing physiological responses under various light conditions—adjusting light quality (UV, PAR, FR), intensity, and photoperiod for each target crop.
Furthermore, we study how environmental stress factors (e.g., temperature, lights, nutrient conditions) promote the biosynthesis of high-value secondary metabolites and seek to elucidate their underlying mechanisms.
Smart Farm and Controlled Environment AgricultureDevelopment of fully controlled, intelligent, and energy-efficient plant production systems.
Establishment of environmental optimization based on real-time growth responses, and integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Photophysiology and LED Light Quality ControlInvestigation of the effects of LED light spectra (UV, PAR, FR) on plant physiology and metabolism.
Evaluation of photosynthetic performance and Photosystem II efficiency through advanced chlorophyll fluorescence and photochemical analyses.
Maximization of crop productivity and functional compound biosynthesis via optimized combinations of light quality, quantity, and photoperiod.
Functional Metabolite RegulationDevelopment of secondary metabolite enhancement technologies by inducing plant stress defense mechanisms through controlled environmental manipulation (temperature, light, and nutrients).
Elucidation of stress-induced biosynthetic pathways using integrated metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses.
Target CropsOur research encompasses a wide range of horticultural and functional crops.
